- Lord, in my ministry in your multi-cultural Kingdom, with all its
diversification, give me patience, love and wisdom to get inside the other person’s head and heart so that I may hear
what he hears when I say what I think I am saying.
Help me to feel what he feels in response to my actions
towards him. I commit myself to the Holy Spirit and to the Word of God…to learn, to love, to patience,
to availability in meeting human need, and to leaning on Jesus who prayed that His people would be one. As
Jesus Himself contextualized the Gospel in His incarnation, may I die to that part of me and my past that refuses to be shaped,
and thus hinders the blending of the body together to make that artistic collage called the Church. Help
me to hear the silent cries of lonely people both in my church and on the streets who cannot cross on to my island …
take me across the bridge to their island …
until thy Kingdom is perfectly established and Jesus is Lord of all.
